At the May 2011 Financial Counselling Australia conference, ACCAN and Number Woman surveyed financial counsellors on the impact of 13 and 1800 numbers on their clients. These calls are only free (or the cost of a local call) from landlines but not from mobile phones. Many clients only have mobile phones, typically with limited pre-paid credit. Centrelink, utility companies and many other organisations only have 1800 and 13 numbers listed as their customer contact numbers.
